About the Artist

Krzysztof Medyna began his jazz career in the early 1970s in the group Quidam Jazz Quartet. Together with Andrzej Winnicki, he founded the group Breakwater, and after moving to the USA (1981), he collaborated with many famous musicians. Fascinated by the person and music of Krzysztof Komeda, together with Andrzej Winnicki, he founded the Komeda Project Quintet, where they have been popularizing Polish jazz for years. Breakwater was reborn in the USA in 1992 with a Polish-American lineup. They performed at that time in popular New York clubs such as The Five Spot, Bar 55, Zanzibar, Fireplace Club, Club Bene, Van Gogh's Ear, and even at St. Peter's Church. Archival recordings from these clubs became the concept for the album "Live in New York City 1993-95".

About the Interviewer

Mariusz A. Wolf wrote down and edited the story of the life and music of the famous Polish saxophonist Krzysztof Medyna. The result is a small book titled:
'Krzysztof Medyna. Jests, Saxophone and Jazz: or my whole life," full of memories, anecdotes, and jokes about growing up in the Polish People's Republic and traveling with music bands outside of Poland. "Jests" also presents Krzysztof Medyna's career in the United States. It reads like a sincere and heartfelt story.
